Job for College Student in Summer?
I’m looking for a good job during the summer that is flexible but pays good wages. I’m just finishing my freshman year of college and need to make as much as I can so I have enough for all my expenses during the school year when I don’t work as much. Does anyone have good ideas or suggestions?

Normally I would suggest doing something that relates to your major. That way you get experience and figure out if that is truly what you want to do.
However, depending on your major, you may not be able to find anything that pays interns well.
If you are looking for flexibility though, i would suggest going with a temp agency. They can find you positions for the whole summer or for a week or few days at a time. This way you can work a few weeks, take a little time off, work some more. They usually pay at least $15/hr. but offer no benefits.
The only down-side to this is that they might not have positions that you qualify for every week. But it doesn’t hurt to register with them right away. Because if you do find something else that pays well, you can turn down a job if they call you with one.
Definately do a summer internship that relates to your degree. You could even do a co-op, where you work for a summer and one semester of college, earning college credit and improving your resume. You will be glad you did it when you start looking for jobs, employers really want relevant job experience.
Try looking into an internship that pays that has to do with your major. Alot of internships don’t pay however, so in that case the best thing to do is find a local place with good salary. If you’ve never had a job I would suggest trying to work at a supermarket as a clerk. Good luck in the job hunt.
